At the nostalgic seaside town of Blackpool in northwest England, Why Not Associates and Gordon Young spent five years discovering and assembling the jokes of comedians that echo through the town’s history and lively spirit, creating “Comedy Carpet.”
Along the 320-meter stretch leading to Morecambe Bay in northwest England, they crafted “A Flock of Words” — a pathway of poems, traditional sayings, and song lyrics about birds, meant for reading while walking.
Finally, in the year when Israel banned journalists from entering Gaza, the British broadcaster Channel 4 released the trailer “Unseen Gaza”, carrying the message that the concerns should be with the footages they cannot see rather than what they can.
ーWhy Not Associates received the Tokyo TDC Grand Prize three times. It was like a gift from the god of the greatest passion for typography in the world, bestowed upon Tokyo TDC.
