TypeTogether has translated Paul Renner’s iconic Futura®100 — one of the world’s best known geometric sans families — into in 12 scripts and more languages than ever before, including: Arabic, Armenian, Cyrillic, Georgian, Greek, Hebrew, Khmer, Lao, Latin, Myanmar, PanAfrican Latin, and Thai. With upcoming language support for more than 90% of the world’s population, the revitalised warmth of Futura®100 is historically introspective, globally applicable, and stylistically comprehensive.
There are two main reasons for a new version of Futura®100. Firstly, language support. Until now only a few scripts have ever been created, but TypeTogether has released it in 12 scripts in 2025 and there will be another 11 in 2026. Secondly, to make it more accurate, more powerful, and more aligned with digital publishing needs. The families come in six weights along with matching obliques and optical size variations.
One of its biggest challenges was to translate one of the world’s best known typefaces into non-Western scripts such as Arabic and Thai. Each script has native default numerals and regional alternates, such as Persian numerals, and alternate regional characters: Bulgarian and Serbian in Cyrillic, Yiddish and Dagesh in Hebrew, or Pashto and Persian in Arabic. Small caps and italics are included as appropriate, and some cultural iconography is included, such as the Armenian eternity sign.
