Rendez-vous des créateurs 2017(Poster&Invitation)

This is a real chance for us to work on this type of project. The « Rendez-vous des créateurs » has been for us like an apprenticeship. Indeed, we went to meet nine artisans of the graphics art industry with complementary skills; silkscreen, varnish specialist, flocking, suppliers of papers and various creative materials, hotfoil supplier, stamping tools, specialist of embossing and laser cutting. With them we talked, learned and exchanged a lot.

For the design of the invitation, we wanted to make a concept that values the ennoblishing techniques. The idea for the communication of the 2017 edition was that the printing techniques influences the graphic design. For the « Save the date », the printer « Sonderegger » showed us some samples of embossed bubbles. We decided to work on this effect, amplifying the rendering. So, we decided to work with a holographic folio similar to a soap bubble. To increase the effect, a typographic work illustrating a deformation has been realized. For the invitation, we wanted to create a surprise when the person take out the two flyers of the paper sleeve. The goal is to create a contrast between the container and the content, from a pure object to something extravagant, vibrant. The yellow flyer consists of a cut and an embossing, the distorted typography expresses a technical problem, like a glitch. The green flyer shows a typography that flows like a liquid, the effect is accentuated by a glossy 3D varnish print. For the poster of the 2017 edition, we chose since the beginning to print it with flocking, indeed this technique is rarely used on posters. Flocking reminded us of the effect of magnetism. The Rendez-vous des créateurs’s poster dialogue with his interlocutor and gives the desire to touch it.
