BOUTIQUE!(VI, Events Design, Poster)

This is a visual/space design produced for “Boutique!” (a collaborative exhibition of fashion designers and artists) held at the Spiral building in Omotesando at the end of 2014. The exhibition also doubled as Spiral’s Christmas event held at the end of the year. First, I designed the typography, using “collaboration = pair” as the keyword, and then thought of a design that would boost the event as a whole while retaining an image in which “space” and “graphic” including fixtures and the Christmas tree were linked and integrated.
For me, designing letters and pursuing shapes are a part of the pleasure of working and provide a little alone time. TDC is a group of people who have unique tastes and preferences like me. I always get a slight frisson of excitement when I see a TDC annual book. I am very much honored to receive the TDC award. Thank you very much.

Ryosuke Uehara(Japan)

Established KIGI in 2012 together with design partner Yoshie Watanabe.

Ryosuke Uehara undertakes a wide range of creative activities including branding, graphics, product, space, visuals, and works creation. His main work consists of graphic work that includes VI for PASS THE BATON and advertisements for PARCO. Every year, a new design is announced and sold for his vinyl flower vase — a D-BROS product—which now has a lineup of over 80 types. In addition, he has created the product brand KIKOF (starting in 2014) together with traditional craft artisans from Shiga Prefecture, and also creates works in the midst of design work flows and holds art exhibitions, thus showing that he continues to discover and create new ways for how creations ought to be while traversing all genres with free ideas and expressiveness. He won the FY2015 Tokyo ADC Grand Prix with a KIKOF product and brand design. He has also won the NYADC GOLD (2004/2013, the ONE SHOW DESIGN GOLD (2013), the 11th Yusaku Kamekura Award (2009), as well as the TDC Award, twice. Last year, to sell design products and other goods created by KIGI, he opened the shop and gallery, “OUR FAVOURITE SHOP”, in Shirokane, Tokyo. He has two work anthologies, KIGI (Little More, 2012) and KIGI_M (Little More, 2016). www.ki-gi.com
