Mondra (Type Design)
I feel very honored to receive the TDC Prize for my typeface. The font is called »Mondra«—an anagram of »random«. I created this typeface to imitate the appearance of handwriting. Each stroke style and downstroke of the characters as well as some character forms are randomized via a script. Just like actual handwriting, no two letters are identical. The variable downstrokes transport various emotions according to their lengths – from precise and timid to brash and confident. I designed and coded the typeface using PHP/PDFlib.
