Ryuko Tsushin (Magazine)
I have been in charge of art direction at “Ryuko Tsushin,” a monthly fashion magazine, since it was revamped in September 2002. Each month seems to whiz by as I try to keep up with my schedule, since I am involved in numerous aspects of production, including project planning, preparation, photo shoots and designing. So, to tell you the truth, I really have no time to formulate a “formal” concept. I simply follow my instincts to whatever feel right for the moment and the whole process is simply a non-stop sequence of these moments. Having said that, it is also true that I have always approached my work with hopes that the magazine will be able to maintain a unique relevance to the times that we live in. I was pleasantly surprised to be presented with this award. In any case, this job has been a very good workout for me.
