Yasuhiro Sawada Exhibition
This is one of the pieces I exhibited in my first exhibition. The theme of the exhibition was, “How can the act of ‘painting’ be fixed onto a piece of paper through a system of ‘printing’?” I extracted various shapes and forms of the human body and stylized them with simple symbols. Each piece was painted in actual size (B1) and double-printed in 4-color offset. Sixteen B1 sheets were used to represent the entire body.
Yasuhiro Sawada
Born in Tokyo in 1961. Graduated from the design course of Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music in 1986. After working for Suntry Ltd. until 1989, established Yasuhiro Sawada Design Studio. Held solo exhibition “P2” in 1991 at Ginza Graphic Gallery. Awards he has received include: 1988 New York ADC Silver Prize, 1988~94 IPT International Poster Triennale Toyama Silver Prize, 1989 Tokyo ADC Grand Prize, 1990 Japan Magazine Advertisement Gold Prize, 1990 Tokyo ADC Award, 1993 JAGDA New Comer Award and others. He is a member of Tokyo TDC and JAGDA.
